Elisabeth Shin (Liz)
I’m a multidisciplinary designer, illustrator, and visual storyteller based in Washington, D.C. I specialize in graphic design, web design, motion graphics, and marketing, blending creativity and strategy to build visuals that connect people, tell stories, and create impact.
Outside of client work, I’m also developing my own illustration and merch line — a playful extension of my design practice where I create uplifting artwork that celebrates joy, confidence, and self-expression.
Design Journey
My path as a designer has taken me through a wide range of industries — from federal IT and nonprofits to education, creative startups, and cultural organizations. I’ve had the chance to work on projects that combine storytelling with design strategy, helping organizations strengthen their brands and reach wider audiences.

It starts with listening intentionally — learning about the brand, the audience, and the story that needs to be told. From there, I dig into research and gather inspiration, whether that’s pulling visual references, building moodboards, or exploring color and typography options. Once a clear direction emerges, I sketch and prototype ideas to see how they can come to life across different platforms. The goal is always to strike a balance between creativity and strategy, so the final design not only looks good but also connects and delivers results.

My go-to tools are Adobe Creative Suite — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere — along with Figma for web design and prototyping. I also work in WordPress for website builds and content updates, and Procreate for illustration and merch design. Depending on the project, I’ll pull in other tools like Canva or CapCut for quick content creation, but my core toolkit always comes back to design, motion, and web.

I’ve always loved drawing, but for a long time it felt like something separate from my design career. When I started experimenting with turning my illustrations into stickers and prints, I realized how much joy people found in carrying a piece of art with them — on a laptop, a water bottle, or even as part of their outfit. That inspired me to expand into merch, where I could blend design and storytelling in a more personal, playful way. For me, illustration and merch are about creating small, everyday objects that spark joy and encourage self-expression.

I love trying new things, so lately I’ve been learning how to golf, play pickleball and tennis, and even getting into bowling. I’m not a pro at any of them — but I enjoy the challenge and the fun of picking up new skills.
